Obituary for Joseph N. Hite III

Joseph N.  Hite III
HITE, Joseph N. III, age 69 of Tucson, AZ passed away on December 28, 2017. Preceded in death by his parents, Joseph N. Hite II and Marie M. Hite. Survived by his beloved friends, Greg and Margaret Roberts; and his god-daughters, Julia and Kelly Roberts of Oro Valley, AZ. Joe was born in Queens, New York and spent most of his childhood in Pennsylvania. He served in the United States Army for 23 years. He received numerous medals, such as two Purple Hearts, two Army Commendation Medals, and Bronze Star Medal. He completed three tours in the Vietnam War. Joe was a Paratrooper and very proud of his time in the 82nd Airborne. Later in his military career, Joe received a Chief Warrant Officer commission and became a CID agent. Joe's favorite assignments were serving on Secretary of Defense Casper Weinberger's Security Detail and as a Drug Suppression Team Agent in Germany. After retiring from the Army, Joe became a police officer. Before retiring a second time, he served with the Tucson Police Department, Superior P.D. and lastly the Pinetop-Lakeside P.D. He was an avid reader, history buff and writer. He loved telling stories of time spent in Vietnam and Germany. Joe will be missed by his many friends and former co-workers. A Memorial service will be held on Friday, January 5, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. at DESERT SUNSET FUNERAL HOME in Tucson, AZ. His remains will be interred at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA.
